What and Why is there a 'Dead Zone' / How does it work?
A Dead Zone is an area of the course that is used to improve safety and reduce risks taken by participants. Eg: If there were temporary traffic lights along the bike course and you had to stop as the lights were on red, you might lose 3 minutes due to the stoppage or you might decide to plough through the lights and not lose any time. The Dead Zone is placed by the traffic lights start and stop points to pause your time, so you don't take an unnecessary risk for the sake of 3 minutes.
I'm not on the start list?
There could be several reasons for this, with the main one people are still entering the event. Start lists get updated periodically in the run up to the event so you may be on the next version. Keep checking the start list link as you may suddenly appear.
